I study Pre-Columbian archaeology, especially complex societies of the Peruvian north coast. My interests include: the dynamics of ancient political systems, culture change, public architecture, ceramic analysis, and the relation between power, symbolism and iconography. I completed a M.Sc. focusing on Moche temple iconography, and am currently conducting a study on Early Horizon period (900-200 BC) north coast society, as viewed through the site of Huambacho (Nepeña Valley). My Ph.D. research was a study of this ancient ceremonial centre and its implications for our understanding of public architecture and the development socio-political complexity.
